Possibly overlooked for decades, Calabrian wineries are now finally conquering the leading role they deserve on the Italian wine stage with a shower of international recognition.
Many novel, brave, and innovative producers combine research and experimentation with an ethical and sustainable way of making wines.
The common denominator is the enhancement of authenticity, wisdom and local savoir-faire.
Calabria has a unique heritage, consisting of ancient techniques and areas of extraordinary vocation embraced by a mild and temperate climate:
9 DOC - including Cirò, Greco Bianco and Terre di Cosenza - and 11 IGT vines that extend throughout the territory between La Locride to Cirotano, from Lametino to Cosentino.
We are celebrating this Calabrian Renaissance by giving space to the most original and passionate expressions of this movement inside our De’ Minimi restaurant.
In our restaurant's wine list, you can find a selection of the finest local labels and meet the protagonists of the new “Enotria” (the ancient name of Calabria which means “land of wine”) at the De’ Minimi Wine Club evening events.
Open to the general public and not exclusive to hotel guests, the Wine Club evening meals are curated by F&B Manager Luca Cuconati. Every month, they elaborate a Calabrian winery: a tasting course with a four-course menu studied by chef Emanuele Pucci to accompany the guest winery's assortment of wines. Not only tasteful events but also networking opportunities and knowledge sharing between local producers.
Alongside consecrated wineries such as Cantine Benvenuto, Cantine Viola, and Casa Comerci there are breaking names and still unsung gems such as the Spiriti Ebbri winery, the fruit of Luca Cuconati's meticulous and careful research on the territory.
You are all invited to participate in the happy alliance between the Calabrian wine renaissance and the coolest new gastronomic destination in Tropea!
De’ Minimi Restaurant is located inside Villa Paola, see the link for info and reservations on events.
